Black moor companions?

I heard that if you have algae in your goldfish tank, that you could get a large apple snail (make sure its bigger than the goldfish can fit in there mouths because they eat them).....is that true that you can put apple snails in with goldfish? I am curious aswell!

A really large apple snail should survive with smaller goldfish but will not really do much to dent an algae outbreak.

Goldfish (such as the black moor) create a lot of waste compared to many smaller tropical fish. This requires that you clean the tank far more often, and that is why barebottomed tanks are a good idea (easier to clean). Sicne there is excess food (nitrates) the algae can use the excess light to grow faster. Limit one of those things and the alage should slow down. Moving the tank is often easy to do. But doing water changes more often will help a lot more (unless you have nitrates in the tap water).
