Hey guys. I've been looking into black paradise fish recently and am wondering if anyone here could post some pictures of their's.

Here's a pic of mine, he was a great fish, only problem was he started eating all my RCS so I moved him to my 75 gallon where he created little black/blue hybrids with the female blue paradise in there :P

Nice fish - do the black not have any barring on their flanks? And excuse my ignorance, always imagined the black paradisefish was, well, all black.:uhoh:

My understanding is that there are a few types of paradisefish out there marketed as black paradisefish, mine was most likely a Macropodus concolor but there is also M. ocellatus which are alot blacker in body color but also alot harder to find...

Thanks a lot for the info Alex, that clears up a lot of confusion, I was wondering why the colors on all the black paradise pictures Ive seen range from almost white to pitch black.

M. ocellatus is the Chinese and/or roundtail paradisefish. They're extremely rare in the US, but I've never heard of them marketed as black paradisefish.

If you know of anyone stocking M. ocellatus in the US who ships, please let me know...I've wanted them for over 10 years.
