I'm trying to gather up a bunch of pros and cons on the two of these substrates. From what I understand they are about the same cost.

I like what I heard about the Eco-Complete in that it goes straight from the bag to tank with no rincing involved. Does this mean no clouding?

I did see a couple of photos of tanks with the Tahitian Moon and thought it looked quite nice. My problem is, I live in an apartment with no hose connection, making it kind of tough to really do a good rince job. Any suggestions?

Is one preferred more over the other when it comes to the health of Africans?

Thanks!

Gary

We;; if you're doing Africans, I assume there are no heavy root feeding plants - so go with Tahitian Moon hands down. Not only for cost, but it's very easy to rinse and Africans generally prefer sand.

I have Black Tahitan Moon sand in my 55g and 10g tanks... Just pour alittle in a bucket and set it in the sink and rinse it several times...It takes several rinses to get it pretty clean and you may not ever get the water in the bucket looking totally clear but mine never clouded up my tank enough to not be settled down within a few hours after adding water....it does have a tendency to turn your hands alittle black as you are stirring it around but a good scrubbing will fix that ;)

Agree The Black moon Sand is Easy to rinse put a little in a bucket and stir you might lose some. I have it in my 0 gal and it looks awesome!
