If it came down to it, a Rubbermaid container always works... get a filter and you're set.
But really, you could probably swing it if you just bought a tank and filter... all the fancy stuff we get for our tanks isn't *NEEDED*, but is very costly. A heater would also help with these fish, but again... if you absolutely cannot afford one, it is O.K. for now.
