Okay, i just took off the garbage bags, pillows and blankets over my tank and, although it is much better, i still have green water!

Before i did it, i wanted to make sure it was okay, but would it be okay to do another blackout so the water is clearER? I don't want my plants to die or anything, or more importantly harm my fish.

I just fed them, the are probably starved (except for the snails, who have eaten 4 of my neons :irked:)

and i am still trying to sell my dad on the CO2, but i will win...i alllllways win :p:

Maybe a dose of algaefix to break the cycle a bit... you probably only need to do once.

Not something I like doing, but did it last year on the planted tank here.. it's been good since.

I would not suggest algaefix if there are any inverts in the tank I don't think the two mix well. Can you set up a DIY CO2 system with some old soda bottles and some airline tubing?

will DIY co2 work in a 55 gallon? Do you mean the yeast and sugar mixture?

EDIT - 3 full days i did the black out, and i am almost positive no lught seeped through.

co2 wont really do much kill off the algae especially since you already got a full bloom. Atleast from my personal experience it did nothing at all.

Do a longer blackout(5 days) but in a week. Give the plants time to recoup.
