Bleach dipping plants

What kind of plants did you dip? Some plants can take it but others will melt. Sometimes they don't melt immediately. I dipped some hygro that looked good for a few minutes but over the next hour it completely turned to mush.

(1) anubias lanceolta 5-7" tall
(3) red ozelot swords 4-6"
(1 potted) rare rare! crypt pontederfolia 3-4" 3 potted plants
(3) amazon swords 9-11"+ tall nice!
(2) aponogenton crispus 4-6"+ tall
(1) ruby red melon swords 5-7" tall

I just cleaned the brown algae off the leaves (had a bloom in the tank) & pruned.

will see how it goes in next few days. I do have one positive, one shoot is growing out the sword group, just str8 up with leaves sprouting at 4 pts along the shoot.

i've always did a bleach dip couldnt tell you the ratio. i fill a big enough bowl with water toss in some bleach and soak the plants for a few minutes. i've yet to melt one and as you can see they grow fine

I do 20:1 bleach to kill algae rather than snails but have melted stems & thin leaved plants. Just a minute or so & not the roots. Does alum kill algae too? I have loaches in almost all tanks so snails aren't a big deal, in fact I try to keep some in my shrimp tank but my water's pretty soft.

Thin leaved plants I rinse & throw in for the shrimp to clean.
