Hi, I'm new here but I have a question that I'm hoping someone else has some experience with.

I have four long tailed danios, of which two of *very* bloated (only in the lower belly area) and one which is mildly bloated. I don't see any noticeable pineconing along any of their scales, so I'm doubtful of dropsy. Also they are very active, darting around and having no problems eating.

I fed them a skinned pea last night after reading that they may be constipated and notice one pooped, but it was bright red. Parasites? I have no idea!

I also read that they might be egg-bound and would stay that way unless I introduced a male danio into the tank. However, I don't know how on earth I would id between male and female, so if they're egg-bound, is there anything else I could do to get them to drop the eggs?

Finally, I attached a couple of pictures to show you how these poor little guys look with the hopes that will make them easier to diagnose. My camera sucks, so the pictures aren't terribly good, but I hope that you'll be able to see what I'm talking about. Thanks in advance to any who reply!

Jade

EDIT: I found another picture on the internet of a giant danio with a similarily distended belly, but it's not my fish. Just to give you a better idea of what my fish look like! Thanks!

the general rule of thumb for sexing fish is to look at the anal fins, more pointed is male and more rounded is Female, I dont know what the exact thing is for Danio's (never owned them) but it may help
