Hello All,

I purchased a couple of BPs about three weeks ago....this evening the female( didnt know it was a female!!!) began laying egg. Never seeni t before..my family and i have been watching for hours! Both fish are keeping the other fish away foor obvious reasons.

I have a 75 gallon tank
2-silver dollars
2-bala shark
2-diamond tetra
1-11 yr old Angel
2- platys
2-Huge Silver dollars
1-African Knife
1- Kribensis
1-Algae eater

the 75 been up and running for about 3 years, crystal clear water.

My question is.....What do i do if and when the eggs hatch?

Thanks for any input

It is very unlikely that you will have them hatch. Most all Blood Parrot males are sterile and will not be able to fertilize the eggs. The eggs with turn white after a couple days and they will eat them. I had 2 blood parrots and Ive gone through this about 3 times since I got them a few months ago. But as said, if they would happen to become fertilized and hatch youd want to either divid a section of the tank off for them or move them to another tank.
