Blood red parrot cichlids

My co-worker has them and he loves em

Make sure it has a place to completely hide itself. I have artf. driftwood with a hole big enough for him to fit in ( he's about 4 inchs ).

Just checked out your african tanks. Puts my 20 gal hex(african also) to shame, really nice! Woke up this morning to find my snow white belly up. Wasn't that old (about 1yr). Don't see any problem with other fish. Did a water check and params. are the same as always. Did a 30% change yesterday like I do every week. Not gonna worry to much about it but will keep doing checks every couple a days to make sure I didn't miss anything.

it will work for about 2 years. then youll see that cute blood parrot the size of a softball and not so nice anymore
they get big and tough with age
youll eventually have to upgrade the size of your tank. at a big size they put out alot of waste and youll have trouble keeping up water quality
so for now yes it will be fine, just be prepared for change

A single blood parrot will be fine in a 37 gallon for life. They grow slow and it will take awhile before they reach softball size. Even when they are softball size the 37 gallon( if it is not a hex) will be fine for a single parrot. You could even add a school of cories for a clean up crew.

yep single will do
you can keep them in a community setup, they have small mouths and really cant swallow smaller fish. there only aggressive with their own kind or other cichlids including angels, rams etc. some are down right mean and some are sweet. it all depends on who ya get
mine reached softball sized in 2 years. sadly he was killed by a red devil
R.I.P Sweb
