I woke up to find my blood shrimp dead. My parameters are good
ph 8.3
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 10

I use RO water (some tap left). I was going to do a water change (it has only been 1 week) but did not.

Any ideas?? Are they just not hardy?

Hopefully it molted! Easy to tell -- get it out of the tank and look, if no guts it's just the shell. My blood shrimp are some of my favorite tank mates. I hope you didn't loose it.

Molted two weeks ago - this was not shell unfortunately. As a matter of fact - there was shell in there yesterday and I thought it was from the other week but then realized that it couldn't be since part of the other shell was sucked up by the filter. This was a full shell. Why would it molt again? Something must have been wrong that I didn't notice. Ever hear of one molting every week and a half to two weeks? My calcium is at 480 and everything else seems to be fine.

I just lost my first pep shrimp last week, it just died for no reason, made me sad a lil because it was my first. before it died it molted a few days earlier. stress maybe killed it. I'll just have to buy another one.

What's your iodine level?

HiepNotik - sorry about your loss. Mine seemed a mystery also.
Sarra: I don't know my iodine levels. I thought I got what I needed from using a good Reef salt? I do a 10% change weekly. Shouldn't that keep all the minerals needed in the aquarium?

Shouldn't that keep all the minerals needed in the aquarium? all salts have different levels of minerals. what salt are you using?
