This is one of the easiest DIY projects out there....you can do it. All you are doing is connecting two to four wires.

Maybe you could find someone in your area to do it.

I got confused reading that some other way do not require all that wiring and splicing. Can someone explain it better?

Just finished my kit, actually were the exact same bulbs as the OP used, but slightly different wall wart. Look great in the new canopy I'm building. Now to finish the rest of the custom lighting. Couldn't be any easier and I'd suggest it to anyone wanting a cheap but effective lighting solution.

To those of you running thes on 7.5v or less do you notice that only a portion of the tube lights up or do yours light up dimmer across the entire bulb? Just want to verify we're seeing the same thing.

The portion of the tube that lights up is smaller the lower the voltage. It's best to get an adjustable adapter, 3v to 12v.

I have one, runs from 3.5 to 12v. Just wanted to verify that the partial tube lighting was the correct response.

Yup, not what I expected when I first set it up...but I've grown to like it. Doesn't make too much of a difference if you are using two tubes.

i have mine set at 9

Just be careful with these...if they are set above 6v over night, most fish can't get any rest. This was researched on another forum. I have mine set on high (12v), but only for 2 hours before lights on and 2 hours after lights out (soon to be just 1 hour), anything else it will be set to 6v.

yeah it's at 6v now, thats just the exposure though, its actually a lot darker

I have mine on a adjustable voltage adapter that way I can get just the right light color. I had red cathalode on my 55g's before I tore them down looked pretty cool.
