Hi Guys

just a general question...

does anyone have a blue cheek goby.. we've had ours for a few months now and he's lovely, has his own little cave and loves sifting the sand..

he used to eat really well, well he still eats, but it's like he can't see the food.. all the other fish seemed to have eyes like an eagle they'll home in on it and it's gone. Little Gobes swims around like he's looking for it and it will be right next to him and he'll miss it.

He'll bash the turkey baster as he knows it's got food in it, so we'll try and give him some directly but it's like he's feeling in the dark LOL :screwy:

anyone else had this experience?

Nic

had a similar experience with my pink spotted watchman goby, i just used to feed it last with a turkey baster after the rest of the fish had their fill...when feeding, i used to position the turkey baster more and more out in to the open, which seemed to give it a little more confidence at eating out in the open...

See what other peoples experiences of goby's are....

Mine, a Diamond Watchman Goby, also seems blind, he sees the food randomly. But mine usually gets some mysis, and he finds a shrimp pellet once in a while. Which causes a feeding frenzy around him as he grinds it, creating little pieces to float away which the other fish go nuts for.
He will also take food directly from the turkey baster.

Ok well at least it seems like it not just our Goby anway..

Thanks guys

Nic

I have to say, my Diamond Goby is amazing with food. He is a little monster when it comes to feeding time, always darting around and getting food, especially krill, he loves krill.
Maybe he's just a special goby, who knows.

He even knows when a snail/hermit goes in his home, as he will swim in, pick them up and move them across the tank. The one snail will play games with him and keep going back until the goby puts him on the other side of the tank.
