Blue Dolphins and Super Red Severums

I kept gold severums in really hard alkaline water some years ago. The pH was around 8.3. GH and KH in the mid 20's. They did fine. The super reds might be a bit more sensitive or delicate, but I wouldn't mess with the pH. I hope to get some super reds sometime and have no intention of messing with my water chemistry.

For the regular gold severums, the females had few scribbles on their faces. That isn't really going to help you much! They also had less pointed dorsal and anal fins.

Hi How r the Red Severums doing? > Ive read online in a place that some are DYED red to llok real red>> Ypours look natural>> Id like to aquire 3 or 4 >> Where did U Buy yours . PRASAP thanks much like your set up!

I got mine off of aquabid.

I'm pretty sure most super red severums aren't dyed, they are just interbred multiple times to get the color.

You could call mine red spotted pretty much by this point. They have lost some of the deep red since they have grown.

I actually have 2 that paired up/ digging out a corner and doing mating type things. They will breed soon and hopefully it will be a success.
