blue-green algae remover

My tank is infested with the blue-green algea (cyanobacteria)

I went to my LFS and they gave me this stuff called UltraLife Reef Products Blue-Green Agea Remover. I was wonderin if anyone here has tried it? Do you know if i have to change my filter media or anything. The instructions on the box are very minimal.
