I was wondering if it was ok to put shrimp in the same tank with a blue lobster. My lobster is currently sharing a tank with other fish and was thinking of some shrimp. Any thoughts?

Crayfish are something you should not mess around with other underwater creatures. They are far carnivorous and will attack even your shrimps.

Well I've had mine for a year and hes been with the same fish the whole time. I introduced him last in the tank for that reason. The only fish he messes with is any new additions to the tank and thats it. All my fish mess with him. He's shed about 5 or 6 times and is about 3-4 inches long. Out of all the fish I have had with him he has only killed cories. I just put 2 glass catfish in the tank about a month ago and either he can't see them or he takes no interest. I guess I just got lucky with this one. I had a pearl gourami that was ill so I immediatly went out and bought a new one and put the new one in as I took the old one out b/c everything I tried for it to make it better failed. The crayfish didn't even notice. The only thing he does when I know he's hunting for food is sit with his claws in the air so I feed him a shrimp pellet or algae wafer and he's fine and he does this right at the glass when I'm in the room. It's weird. I just was wondering about shrimp in with him just b/c of his attitude. Mayby someone has had experience.

Like others have said, most crayfish are carnivores or omnivores and most are usually nocturnal and would possibly/probably prey on other inhabitants... mainly any other bottom dwellers or fish that sleep near the bottom. If your fish are mostly mid-level and top-level fish and are fast swimmers, they may elude predation although an occasional fish may go missing. The shrimps might be the first to go since they share the same habitat and would not be able to defend against the strong pincher of the crayfish.

There are a couple of different species of crayfish that have a blue variant. What area of the world do you live in? Did you buy the crayfish? You might want to ask at the store for the exact species (scientific name) so you can do more research on suitable habitat and tank mates.
