Hey our LFS has blue lobsters, it was really cool looking, anybody have these or know of anything about them, how big do they get, are they fairly friendly? He was in a tank with a lot of other fish, don't remember what kind, but I noticed when I walked past him the first time he was just hanging out, but then like 5 mins later walked past him again, he had dug himself a little "hole" in the gravel to hang out down there. I figured that could be good for stirring up the gravel to clean the algae between the layers of gravel.

Any ideas on this guy?

if you intend to keep any fish i wouldnt get a blue lobster. Crayfish are really agressive and will make every attmept possible to eat your fish (they dont eat aglae), and they are very shy and dont come out of hiding too often during the day

blue lobster = not friendly

I agree with the comment about them being a "No No" With fish, I have got myself a long armed river shrimp which looks alot like a crayfish/lobster with a big arm and he has killed many a fish despite the LFS advice as to him being a community dweller , so he must find a new home soon :( . So to avoid problems forever the the future IMO I would say avoid the lobster at all costs unless you are willing to put him in a tank all by himself. They need a tank size min. of 20 gallons and get as big as 5" I think. Hope this help you out, happy fish stocking :)

I made the same mistake years ago and bought a 4" "blue lobster" I don't know if it was a blue cray or a blue lobster, but I do know it wrecked every fish fin in the tank. none of my fish were small enough to be captured and eaten, but they all got scarred up pretty badly and eventually one of them evidently got tired of the harrassment because the lobster got smashed in the night. This all took place in a matter of 4 days after purchase. It was months before my fish looked good again. awesome animal, but not for a fish tank IMO

awesome, thanks for the replies guys! I was looking forward to getting him, but not anymore, I can say, he is a beautiful looking thing! Really neat! But since fish over lobster, or maybe I could raise him and then EAT HIM! That would be kinda gross!
