Blue or Bolivian Rams....? Tell me about them

plenty of blue rams out there..you just need to find a reputable source.
btw, oto's are fine at 84

Funny, the OP mentioned not being able to find Rams in the LFS. I used to see them everywhere a few months ago. I've been to 4 LFS's this past week looking for some, but nobody has any.

Maybe they all use the same supplier and there's a problem on that end...? Who knows... Don't suppose anybody has heard anything?

Yeah... Nobody here has them.

I got interested as I saw them at a LFS in Cleveland while on business... But none in Charlotte so far.

I'd order them over the internet, but the shipping cost to get just the rams and no other fish would be stupid to pay..... unless I was stocking another tank.... Which I'm not ready for yet.

wow..I can get blues, gold and bolivian here.

have you tried to locate a local breeder?

check with the LFS and see if they can order rams.

sometimes they don't have space so they don't order the fish but they may special order fish for you. they usually have a large resource for supplies.

Well. . Was working up in Columbus, OH and was driving home to Charlotte anyway and found LFS with ton of blue and bolivian rams......

But they were all males, no females. - and the blues were $14, so I passed. They are half that price online, but can't choose females and males online either.

Would like two females and a male.

AH well.... I bought some Bolivians!!!!

They are doing well. I met a guy that runs a locallarge LFS and talked to him about the blues, and he would order them in for me if I wanted. He was willing to order on a Monday and I could come pick them up on Tuesday right out of the shipping container. He didn't want to stock them as they don't do well in the centralized filter setup tanks he has.... He is considering doing a separate tank for them someday...

Anyway... I got Bolivians, and am pleased so far. They've already started to color up and look better.

I think the only small regret I have is that they really do hang out at the bottom. The tank height at the LFS makes them appear to be low to mid level swimmers.

Oh... And the wife digs them so far..... which will make the next tank buy in a couple of months all the easier!

Thanks for all of your input!
