Hey all - I got my Blues and Snows mixed up and really cant tell some of them apart. Any distinguishing features between the two? There are some definite ones I have been able to separate. But the others are less in color. Also a few seem to be more greenish.
My blue pearls and snowballs are mixed - I bought them that way on Aquabid. The babies are either snowballs or blue pearls - no browns or any other colors so far (I've had them for over a year).
Given that they're the same species you're going to have a pretty tough time deciding which is which. I recommend one of those late model dollar coins...
Yea, I kinda thought that too. A couple of the blues are a real intense color so I was kinda hoping to preserve that blood line. As for the dark ones, not yet quite sure of them. Maybe some other species got mixed in the shipment. More to follow I imagine!
I recently tried to breed the bluest picks of mine too, with absolutely no success. I picked several very blue males and females out of one of my other tanks that's been totally overrun with malawa shrimp and put them in their own tank. Now, a number of months later, I have a ton of snowballs and only a few blue pearls. I swear I started out with all distinctly blue blue pearls too. Oh well. They're all pretty shrimp and they're thriving in that tank now.
