looked, checked, no concrete info in my search. Anyone tried it? it would be in a 45. Two rams, a pile of different loaches. clown, zebra, angelicus.

Severums get as big as 7-8". Rams are dwarf cichlids. Do you still think that's a good match? Also...that size tank can only house 2 Severums.

I agree with peifc. Also, both the clown (loaches, I presume) and angelicus (synodontis, I'm guessing) get larger than 10", so your tank is already overcrowded without adding the severums. If you want the severums, you should get rid of everything else except the angelicus, I'm thinking.

You know, I had several witty responses, but I will just run with this one.

"Your input is duly noted. "

Now, hopefully we all recognize that the reason MOST people ask questions in a forum is they are looking to find answers to a problem that they have trouble adressing. Perhaps I was not clear.

I have an established 45 gallon tank. In it are two German Blue Rams. Now I have read several articles on Severum behaviour, many which state dwarf cichlids are suitable tankmates for young Severums, particularly the Green Severum. My question is this...

Has anyone actually had Severums reach maturity with dwarf cichlids? It is fine and dandy for the juveniles to be housed together, but does the behaviour grow increasingly hostile?

A different tank is not an issue, I have access to several boxes in the 33-90 gallon range, I just would prefer not to move my Rams if they are going to be fine.

Oh, sorry Harry. I was posting my pseudo sarcastic reply as you were answering. The Angelicus is botia, not syno. I also have a single zebra loach growing out in that tank too. I would prefer to not be cycling another tank anytime in the next six months prior to a cross city move, five tanks is enough for now, however I would be interested in finding out what I could expect.

I can't answer on rams specifically, but my Brother just had someone give him a 36 g complete with fish. He is cuurently looking for homes for many of these fish yada yada... One of these fish is an 8 inch green severum and it is currently residing peacefully with about 10 guppies and a pleco. my first guess would be if it will live with guppies, it won't bother rams. Severums get along with pretty much anything, and don't seem to like live fish as food.

ive got 2 sevs with a couple keyholes and have no problems. sevs are at 4-5" and the keyholes are hanging at 2-3".

It isn't always the case with severums. I have a few F0 severums that would beat the heck out of any fishes they don't like. My female Rotkeil is semi-aggressive. She is 5" and my male G. Itapicuruense (this fish is supposingly more aggressive than sev) is 4". She had cornered that fish many times. When breeding time, my last Green Severums had bullied everyone to the other side of the tank. With 45g tank, it isn't big enough for any other fishes to run and hide when and if the severums do pair off.

Also, in this board, there was a person whose severum tried to eat a cory.
