Blue tiger barbs ?????

Anyone ever see "Blue" tiger barbs ??


I was at an lfs and saw these tiger barbs, they looked very much like the green tiger barb, but where the green is....these fish were a very pretty turquoise blue ? I'm not sure if it was an effect of the lighting or not..but they were labeled "green tiger barb".


Interesting if nothing else....I don't think they were dyed....They looked to be very healthy and active, but I was wondering, some fish turn dark when they aren't well, others get lighter. Do green barbs turn blue when they're feeling...well......blue ? :huh:

Were they labeld as green barbs? I know my GB's coloring would change. Seriously. One week it would bet he normal irridecent green with hints of blue and next week it would be very very dark and look turquise/bluish black. I asked our fish guy and he said it could be anything from water quality, diet, to age or spawning related issues.

I know that I was no help, sorry. I just wanted you to know that I have seen them change hue.

I own a green barb and it's color varies from emerald green to a vivid blue. Her nose also turns orange on occasion (spawning behavior). I need a few more in there... She's sexually frustrated...
