hey, all. I went down to the ol' petzoo to buy some newt food and I saw a tank with BNs in it and nearly had a heart attack. they were huge! not huge by pleco standards, really, but huge compared to mine, who's about 3" right now. but I noted all the huge ones were males, and the females were more the size of my pleco, who is also a female. now, my Q's are: 1. will my pleco get just as big as the males, or stay at a more diminuitive size based on her sex? 2. is there such a thing as a chocolate color morph, because I noticed all the BN plecos were grayish, and mine is a chocolate brown. is she a color morph, or a different type of BN? I don't have digital cam, sorry. and 3. do you think I should start investing in a bigger tank if yes to Q#1?

c'mon, I know there are people who can answer these questions!

is there no one to help me?

There are a bunch of color morphs of the bn pleco... Spoted, black, albino, brilliant, green, brown. The green ones are very good looking. Your female will come close to the males size but im sure it wont be as big...(if it is the same as most fish?)

so she'll be fine in my 10g, no stunting?

I think it will eat your plants.

exactly! she is my java moss control device, and does her job quite well.:D don't worry, I still feed her, and love her for who she is, and not just for her important job in my tank. and.... so do you think the tank is big enough, or should I upgrade to a 20g?

I would get a bigger tank, but as long as you keep up with your tank maintenance it should be fine in a 10gal.
