boesemani Rainbow Stocking?

I am thinking of getting a large tank mainly for Melanotaenia boesemani. I am thinking a school of 12 in a heavily planted aquarium would be nice. I was wondering if that would fit in a 55 gallon long?

Would they be compatible with corys or shrimp?

i think they should be fine though the bigger the better. how long is a 55 long?

Mine do great with cories. Don't know about shrimp, though.
