bogwood taking my ph down

will bogwood drop my ph levels down much?
also,will the bog wood stop leaching in time and stop buffering my ph down?

Despite comments to the contrary on the boards, bogwood or driftwood do not "buffer" the water at all, period. They release acids, mostly tannins, which push the pH down - which is not buffering by any definition. The scope of the effect depends on the mass and surface area of the wood and the volume of the tank. The effect is not controllable or steady and does lessen with time.
