If you plan on keeping any gouramis they are supposed to do wonders with eating hydra. But I wouldn't get them unless you really want to keep them later on.

What kind of gouramis do you have? I think the Three-Spot (a.k.a. Blue, Opaline) Gouramis are the variety known to eat hydra. Other varieties may also, but these are the ones I always hear about.
