I have 4 bolivan rams in a 55 gallon tank, im guessing 2 females, 2 males. The one larger male seems to be agressive towards the others at times, it almost looks like they are kissing but he lunges himself toward them and they start pecking at eachother to me (violently) I cant tell if he is defending his territory or if he is just playing around with them. All my parameters are : 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 7.4 ph and nitrates are 5, temp is 78...what should i do?

Perfectly normal, I have 10 bolivians in my 180 and they dont fight all the time but quite a bit. Theyre just developing their pecking orders and territories.

Normal from my experience.

We've never had rams, but thats all iv been hearing lately - GBR-GBR....:grinyes:

I have 3 in a 40g. Similar behavior. They seem to get along fine and then the lip locking head butting and chasing around the tank routine.
Are you certain about the genders? Mine are all about 2 linches long, with the same features. I understand the males will eventually get larger than the females. But both sexes will exihibit the aggressive behavior from time to time.
