Bolivian Ram and lack of colors

I wouldn't worry too much about the serpaes, my rams boss them around, and they basically leave the rams alone. If they are still young it will take them a little bit before they develop full coloration. Food can also make a huge difference, I feed mine omega one flakes and hikari cichlid gold sinking mini pellets, among other things. It has helped to boost their colors too. Temperature wise I keep my tank at 80, and that is with cories and ottos.

Is one of them female, or 2 males?

I'm unsure but I think one is a male and the other is a female.

Thanks! I'll have to try those foods! I'll adjust the temp higher.

My rams aren't real colorful either, but I thought that's just how they are.

I started with one ram and should have stayed there. He was perfectly content until I brought home two more, hoping to get a female and a hookup. I'm pretty sure they're all males, and they don't get along at all. They'll square off and bump lips, but I've never seen a torn fin or any other damage and they're all hearty eaters.

I've noticed, however, that occasionally one will lose the black in the first few dorsal spines if he's being picked on. Then the next day or so, the black is back and he's feeling aggressive.

I'm looking to rehome 2, and may just give them back to pet store if I have to.
