Bolivian Ram eggs

It is planted (about 15 types of plants) and there is currently quite a bit of algae on the plants (yeah - still trying to figure that part out...). I have a little bit of willow moss in there (not much - like a golf ball size)

I'll ask if they have anything at the store tomorrow - thanks for the help stargazer!

Thanks - that's a nice article.
Will do the egg yolk and let you know how it goes. I'll also still look to see if I can get first bites or something similar. Sounds like I have a couple of days before they eat.
I can still see little wigglers this morning - they are hidden in some gravel but the parents were nice enough to make their rearing area near the front of the tank. They are awesome parents. So fun to watch and very doting over their little ones.

I found the first bites.
But when I got home for lunch the wigglers were gone and the parents were casually swimming around. So much for good parents - I think they ate them :( They moved them all once this morning to a place about 6" away. There were about 20 of them! I tried to get video but you can't see them since they are so small. Then at lunch there was another spot dug out but I couldn't see any wigglers anywhere.
It's encouraging they made it this far on the first attempt though. Hopefully in 3 weeks they'll try try again :)

My bolivian rams spawned a lot but ate the babies most of the time. Eventually I just stole the rock they spawned on and stuck it in a little 10g tank. Ended up having most of them hatch. It was my very first try but I got 3 of them to adulthood. Probably not a good turnout but it was something :)

Well - they did it again. And in only two weeks! The male had his breeding colors two days ago. Very vibrant. Here is a pict but it doesn't do him justice.

Then I could tell she would have eggs last night. I was having an Opening Ceremonies party. Wouldn't you know it - in the ONE hour I didn't check them they had their eggs. This time on a different rock.

I ordered a breeding net but I won't get it until next week. So I guess I'll hope for the best with this batch. The mom is dutifully fanning them. The rest of the fish know to stay away.

BTW - I'm trying to find nice names for this pair - any suggestions? :)

Good luck with this one and I like Bonnie and Clyde! Or Fred and Ethel (sp)!

Great names! I love Lucy too - (who doesn't? she was a fabulous comedienne) but I think Bonnie and Clyde suit them better :)

They are still doing good - still fanning (not eating) the eggs. So far there seems to be more fertilized ones. Maybe its still a bit soon to tell though.
