Boogie time!

Oh, yeah, I know. My boyfriend is responsible for these tanks--my tanks are mostly FW, just the 10 SW is actually mine. I just help research and move these. He built the stands and canopies as well.

I have three saltwater tanks, one red ear slider(sheldon),5g gourami, and gus the betta.
I don't have the disease yet but it will come.
I am looking at a hawaain dragon for my next venture.
This is not just a passing fancy for me ,It's a lifelong venture.
Great ,great hobby.

Awesome. Does your boyfriend have the plans for making the canopies? I need to build one for my 55. I'm guessing it's pretty much a box that sits on top with doors on it for access, but plans would be very helpful. Thanks.

The plans are all in his head...we can take more pictures, if that would help. With them off of the tank, etc...

Yeah, we are both really pleased with the canopies. The doors open to the side, and provide for good access. The top piece is not attached, but just sits on the sides, so we can pull it off and have very good access (though it's good we're both tall) without having to pull the whole thing off.

The stand holds the sumps--55 for each tank. We're going to put some black backing on once the tank settles a bit--the haze is actually from silt that's attached to the sides of the tank--front is cleaned, but not the sides and back. Easy to wipe off, since the silt just drops to the bottom when wiped with a soft cloth.

The ammonia spike hit 2 and we added some base rock that's been sitting in the other system. Once the nitrites show up, we'll introduce a few more chunks, and then place an order for some rock. Once everything is stable, we'll move everything and everybody over from the other system, and tear it down. And, then put down new carpet and finish painting the rest of the room.

We're still not sure why we decided to do this knowing we're moving in a couple years--crazy!

I would love to see pics of the canopies. I have a 55 oceanic with a matching oceanic stand. It only came with the light strip for FW. I've had FOWLR and am switching to reef once I get better lighting. I would love to build a canopy for it to put my lights in, along with some other equipment. Looks like a fun project with both tanks.

I'll take pictures next time we can pull them off. They were really easy to make--much easier than the stands. If you give me the dimensions of your tank, I'm pretty sure my significant other will draw up some plans, complete with lengths etc.
