I have a planted 20 gallon with 6 guppies and 3 cory catfish. I was wondering what other types of fish would be an option to put in this tank. I have tried keeping the babies frow the guppies to fill it out a little, but they all get eaten one way or another, now I pretty much gave up. As of next week, I am only going to have 3 guppies in the tank, because I promised a few to a friend of mine. But I have no idea what I even want in this tank, so any suggestions would be great.

A variety of tetras would work--are you looking for more activity, more color, just a variety?

So most tetras are out. Danios are the most active fish I've ever seen--but they might be a bit overwhelming in a 20.

Hmmm...active...Cherry barbs? More peaceful than the tigers, smaller than serpaes, very active. A group of 5-6, 1-2 males, the rest females. The males are very pretty red while the girls have a red stripe and more muted coloring. You can mix the albino variety in as well.

I'd also consider some shrimp. Very under-rated animals, IMO--they are great to watch.

A Pair of German Rams would make an excellent addition...try to get a male and a female. Very beautiful intelligent fish with loads of personality.....a tiny bit aggressive but shouldnt be an issue with any of your guppies of Cories. I have a pair in my 55 Gallon and they are probobly my favorite fish.

Gold barbs go well with cherries as well, and if you give them a quality diet with variety, they'll reward you with brilliant yellow, orange, green, and black colors, all on the same fish! :D

HTH,

BTW, I agree with the ghost shrimps; interesting little creatures when kept as additions to a tank rather than feeders.

gold barbs eat plants, fyi

Rasboras or danios would be great. Maybe a pair of dwarf gouramis for color. They don't swim much, they are still fun to watch.
