i just got a borneo fern today at petsmart, anyone know anything about it? one site says its a terrarium plant and has to be in the air, darn it!

Nope, not a true aquatic plant at all. It will remain green for about 6 weeks, but it will be long dead.

You can try growing it in a floating station. Take one of the clear pot liners, normally used under potted plants to catch water, and cut out a circle in the bottom that will allow the roots and rhizomes of the plant to dangle in the water but keep the body of the plant out of the water. Should work, but will require more clearance than many canopies and such offer.

Yep, it will work nicely as a potted plant. I would use a fairly low grade plant soil--maybe mix regualr potting mix with cactus or succulent mix. You'll want to water it often, but don't want a soil that will compact on the roots.
