Bottom dwellers for 100gal?

I'm looking for a bottom-dwelling fish for my 100 gallon tank (60"x18"x20"), preferably something unusual but relatively easy to keep. Whatever it is will have to get along with 3 balas and 1-12" pleco. I prefer fish with unusual behavior; currently my favorites are ocellated shelldwellers (in a different tank).

I have read that weather loaches are sensitive to changes in barometric pressure and get excitable or even "burp" when a storm is coming. Is this true? ...How do they behave normally?

Any other suggestions? (No clown loaches)

Polypterus come to mind...as do the catfishes Mystus, Leiocassis(siamensis), Raphael, Synodontis, Pimeodella, and Perrunichthys(perruno).....all are quite remarkable fish to keep.

keep in mind weather loaches does better in cooler water.

I'll second the Bichir recomendation. either a p. delhizi or p. ornate would do nicely in that tank. both get over a foot in length with the delhizi staying a little bit smaller (10-12" = delhizi / 10-15" = ornate) I keep my bichir with balas and gouramis (used to rather, now just gouramis) so they get along. the only caution with bichirs is that they are escape artists and always seem to find the only openeing in the tank. so make sure it's well covered if you decide to get one. also, any fish that is small enough and slow enough to fit in the bichirs mouth, is as good as food.

I'll go along with the synodontis angelicus or the synodontis decorus. They get to be about 8" to 10" and are easy to care for bottom dwellers. You can get more information on them at a Drs. Fosters& Smith web site.
