bottom feeder suggestions

any suggestions for a bottom feeder that can do well with currents (aside from clown loacehs)? preferrably one that does not get way too large..

and do cories hate h2o currents?

If you have lots of "bottom current" there will not be a lot of food for bottom feeders.

its not that strong really, the reason why i want some bottom feeders is because i can see some food particles settling on the bottom floor :),

and there are dead spots (current) as well :)

can cories live in this environment?

cories should do well. they like to school so try to get at least 3, if not 6 if your tank can handle it.
 
while we are at it.. any food suggestions for cories? other than pellets and flakes of course :cool2:
 
I have 4 Pepper cories in my 20g tank and 2 Salt & Pepper cories in my 10g tank. The Salt & Pepper Cories get to about an inch or so in size and the Pepper Cories get to about 3 inches or so. I have a RUGF system in my 20g and my cories do fine with it. I feed the Sinking Shrimp Pellets & Algae Wafers and they seem to like both. I feed one kind one day and the other the next day. I don't have a real strong current in my tank but there is some and the cories seem to have no problem with this. They are also very fun to watch. Make sure though to have some plants for the cories to hide under. Also try to keep the temps below 78d F as cories don't tend to like it much warmer. I would recommend the Pepper Cories if you have the room. Hope this helps.

hey there thanks..

i have bronze cories, found at first hand that they can handle the current, it wasn't as strong as i perceived, in fact the whole bottom is almost a dead spot lol :D , these guys eat algae huh?

will they touch blood worms? thanks :duh:
 
Well I'm not sure about pure Algea as I don't have an Algea problem in my tank. I know they dig into the Algea wafers so I assume they will eat some Algea. I'm not sure about the Blood Worms. I have Freeze dried Bloodworms but they never make it to the bottom of the tank as my other fish just hoover them down.
 
Well a rule of thumb is if it has barbels then its typically a meat eater. I havent witnessed specifically what my cory eats but I feed a frozen cube (either bloodworms or brine shrimp) but that usually doesnt last till the bottom, plus I rotate between algea tablets, sinking carnivore tablets, and shrimp pellets. I have many nocturnal fish so I make sure to put some of these in just as the lights go off. Do corys eat in the dark? When I get real motivated I will through a zuchinni spear in there overnight too, not sure if the cory gets in any of that action or not. I have a few cats, a pair of plecos, and several loaches so I probably feed more bottom-feeder food than floating food.
