I will be getting about 5 Angelfish as soon as my 55 gallon tank finishes cycling. However, I am concerned about the over all health of the tank. Should I look into getting some sort of bottom feeder or algae eater for the tank? I want something that will remain relatively small and would make a good companion for Angelfish, preferably something that will do his own thing and won't bother the angels at all if possible. I just want to make sure that my tank is "balanced."

Cories would be great for your tank. The angel fish will stay in the upper areas of the tank and the cories will stay on the bottom. I currently keep angels with cories and the angels don't even acknowledge the cories exist.

Oto cats and siamese algae eaters would also work well for algae eaters.

Will any kind of cory be appropriate? There are a million different species. Which type of cory do you have with your angels?

All cories have similar behavior and somewhat similar adult size, so it's more a matter of personal preference than anything. I keep either albino or skunk cories most of the time. (Have none at the moment because of a bad stocking decision on my part... How was I to know that the baby cons I bought would grow up to be an aggressive breeding pair? :) )
