Bottom fish for a 10 gallon?

a gallon is a measure of liquid volume. thus a 20 gallon tank has twice the volume of a 10 gallon tank. dimensions don't matter as long as they add up to the right volume(s).

i vote for RCS. they're hardy and breed in fresh water.
Apparently, I'm still relying on a bit of mind reading. "Same volume" is referring to a comparison between 20 high and 20 long. Either is obviously twice the volume of a 10, but the 20 long has a bigger footprint than the 20 high. .

You can definitely house 6 pygmy, hasbrosus or hastatus cories in a 10 with your betta (sorry if I mispelled those, but you get the picture). They all stay an inch or under and would be fine in the 10 gallon. And they are very active, sociable fish with good schooling.

And I won't tell you to buy a 20L! Hehe......people just don't understand sometimes. Not everyone has the space. I'd love to buy a 50 or 75, but space is a little tight.
