Bought and returned a Seachem Tidal 110

I'm sure you've tried it, but does cycling the power on/off a few times make the sound change at all? Did you pull the pump apart at all? I hear you that you shouldn't have to on a brand-new filter, but I know when I got mine via mail order, there was bio media dust all over the thing. Maybe some of the abrasive dust got into the pump?

I don't recall my tidal 110 being overly quiet when I got it, but I do think it's gotten quieter over time.

Yes, I cycled it a few times. Disassembled and cleaned the whole thing too.

I'm a little annoyed that it's been 24 hours now and Seachem has not responded to my forum post or my support request.

And today I get an Amazon Answers question about the Tidal 110 with the question "Why is this thing so loud?"

Ok, this is the noise my 110 is making.

The video doesn't do the noise level justice.

I got a reply from Seachem support in their forums. They asked me to make a video and send to support@seachem.com. I did that earlier today and that opened YET ANOTHER support ticket with them. Still no response to the first support ticket I opened with them.

One more day and then the filter goes back.

Hopefully it works out. I can't really tell from the video clip as everything sounds noisy to me that way.

I forgot to mention one more thing that annoys me about my Tidal 110. Nothing ever gets sucked up to the bottom strainer even though I have it set to draw from the lower inlet. It appears most all of the suction is from the surface skimmer.

Well, I have until August 29th to return it to Amazon. Worst case scenario, they get a better filter returned than what they sent me.

Or I could easily sell it on Craigslist for exactly what I paid for it. The Tidal is the "hot" product now. They're selling out everywhere.

New Tidal 110 motor arrived in the mail today. I pulled the old motor off, smacked the new one on, and it sound EXACTLY THE SAME as the old motor:loud.

It goes back to Amazon. Nice try Seachem, but you need to go back to the drawing board.
