I was at walmart today and normally I wouldn't even think twice about buying fish from them. I usually just look to see what they have and then leave. BUT, today I was perusing the selection of fish and they had some gold killifish. I was like "COOL" so I bought 4 of them. They are some cool looking fish. I didn't realize how rare killifish were to find at a store until I got home. Anyway, if anyone would like to share their experiences with killifish - I would love to hear.

Walmart is lousy for fish but sometimes you get lucky and find gold like you did today.

One time I was in ours and they had a 3 inch synodontis notiatus in with a bunch of common plecos. No price... I asked the guy who obviously didn't want anything to to with the fish because he was from the garden department if he could bag it for me. I asked him the price he looked at me and pointed to the pleco sticker on the tank which said 2.99.

He then took a double take at the fish I wanted. Looked around the other tanks for a picture that looked like the one I asked him to bag it and said"well it must be the same fish as the others in the tank. I don't see a sticker for it anywhere else.

Volia! I got the normally $15 syno for 2.99.

I hope your walmart fish turn out better than mine. I got 6 tiger barbs from walmart and everyone of them dies before the two week mark. I tried everything but they just didn't make it

the thing I notice with a lot of our large pet sales places ie walmart and the other chains is they deal with "farms" and not worry about the quality of the livestock that they order and minimal care to keep it alive until the "warrenty" mark. But the killifish are a great fish I have just started keeping some as they just got them the lfs I deal with won't order them because of the short life span. I guess he didn't think I knew about that I was wondering how to sex them, so I may be able to breed them.

well I can't seem to get a good focused picture of the fish. I think I may have some males and some females because a couple of them have a lot of flourescent color in them and the others don't have much color in the body.
