BOWFRONT vs. FLAT

I have a 72 bow and a 26 bow and any distrtion is minimal as the others have said. I like the look.
I have a 72 bowfront and a 55 flat, and I like the 72 bow front more, I get more distortion on my flat front off on an angle while the bowfront is easier on the eyes I think. Taking pictures is a pain in both cases though! But unfortunately they dont make a bow front in 300 gallon sizes so I will be stuck getting a flat front, aka I am building a flat front
Hello Vanillarum, I just joined this forum and am also trying to decide between the 46 gal bow front or a 40 gal breeder tank or a 45 gal high. It looks like you purchased the bow front. I've seen various opinions on flat vs bow front. Another forum that I belong to - I posed the same question yesterday and the majority said flat front. What's your opinion? Do you like the bow front? I'm still wavering on the decision. Thanks
some people would say bowfronts give a bit more swimming room... i think this only comes into play if a fish is right on the edge of whether it's an acceptable tank size or not. Smaller bowfronts are often acrylic instead of glass, which scratches easily... check if the larger sized one is glass. The viewing distortion is seen as a hindrance to some, and a plus to others. be sure you look at some stocked bowfronts before buying one to make sure you like the look of it. good luck!
Thanks everyone for your input. I think I've decided to go with the rectangular tank. Lots of good suggestions and things I hadn't thought about...like trying to catch the fish. I'm planning on a 40 gallon breeder, but then found a 50 gallon with the same width, length...just slightly taller! I'm going to take a look at it tomorrow. I can't wait to get the tank up and running!
