Brackish Algae Eater?

try the Florida flagfish, I think they can do brackish
Nope. Kill 'em dead. Sheepshead minnows, which are also killifish, will do the job OK. Good luck finding any for sale.

Hey Monkey Toes, where can I get one of those fish in your avatar? I am having luck w/mollies cleaning up algae in in my F8 tank.

uuuuh...... this post is 5 months old, dude.... :D
welcome to the forums!

Doh! I hate it when this happens, your reading the posts and think you got something to add and then realize its all old stuff. This post is a good example too since the OP has only a few posts and not seen a a few months, chances are he has left AC and will never see any more responses.

But in response to an BW algea eater compatiable with a puffer... I have heard the magnetic algea scrapers a can tolerate just about any level of brackish :p:

you mean just regular ol' mollies that u can easily get in fish stores? They eat alge. Do you have to have more then 1? I have a 21 gal tank with 1 f8 and 2 bumblebee gobies on the way and would love to be able to get these alge eater mollies.

Mollies help with algae cleaning but dont solve the problem totally.
i read in a article that if your tank suffers badly from algea, turn the light on for 4 hours then turn off for 2 hours and repeat process.
this starves the algae from photosynthesising.
i not tried that myself as my GSP freaks out when the lights turn off :(

Would Also like to try brackish Nirites but cant get hold of any in UK,

Lots of live plants is the only other way but hard to keep if salinity is high.

You just cant win !!!
