Brackish Fiddler Tank Build

thanks for the comments so far....

Was only planning on adding one crab, but couldn't resist getting two, one male, one female. So far I don't think they have even seen each other in the tank. the male has staked out the waterfall corner as his, pulling food out of the moss around there. The female found a hole in the rock work below the waterline and hides out under the false floor. Coming out every hour or so to shift through the sand for food.

I know the little water the tank holds is small(about 3g), but any chance I might be able to put a couple pygmy brackish fish in there to?

wouldn't the crabs get the snails?

I dunno... I had crabs a few different times... and at one point I thought it looked like it had harrassed my MTS... but never killed it.... and if the crabs got my trumpets I wouldn't care, there are so many. but neither are brackish anyway. I've never kept nerites, but they should be fine in your tank, and breed naturally in brackish water... my guess is the crabs won't put a dent in the population, if they even manage to catch one.

my crabs always looked mean, but couldn't catch anything.

Just a verbal update on the tank, both crabs passed on to the heavens after a very long (but only 4 block) move. We had to wait to get into the new apartment as the landlord was patching walls and small repairs. So the crabs sat in my car for about 4-5 hours, and think they couldn't take the heat. The male died the first night, the female sometime last night.

Thinking about changing it up a bit. Any suggestions on other crabs, brackish, or SW that might be ok in there? Or another critter?

Most fiddler/hermit crab keepers use the term "crabitat".
