Brackish water and test kits.

Hi there!
I've been quite active in the general freshwater forum for the last 5 months, and I am willing to start going salty to keep a snowflake eel.

I've read many things about brackish enviroment and stuff, but now this came to my mind: My oldest water test kit has a freshwater and a saltwater pH test. Which one should be used used in a brackish tank?

Also, most of my newer (invidualy bought, brand=Nutrafin/HAGEN) tests have two scales of color: one fo SW and the other for FW. I have not seen a test kit made specially for BW tanks.

Shortly: which scale or reageant has to be used in a BW tank?

No. I look at both of the charts and figure it's in between. Other people may have better ideas. I'll check back at the answers too.

i tend to lean towards the sw but i also have a SG of 1.010. but like was just posted, it's kinda in between, especially in the lower BW setups

Even when test kits use the same chemistry for their FW and SW test kits, the color charts are likely to be different. That is because the higher water of hydration in SW does affect the reactions which we read as results. Only the makers of the particular test kit can give you information on the performance of a specific kit in BW, and that may still vary with the density of the BW. So you have to go to the manufaturer with questions on your specific kit.
