Brain Food!!
so this weekend i drove an hour to find this place that had some sweet deals on frags. $15 per frag, buy 3 get 1 free!!

i got two maze brain frags. one has green centers w/ silver ridges, and the other has red ridges, and very faint blue centers.

i also got a blue candy cane w/ 3 heads and some sweet button polyps.

i've been feeding them mysis at night when they open, (thats okay right?) but was wondering what else i could/ should feed them?

how fast do they grow?

i have them placed low in the tank, is that the correct placement?

how often should i feed them?

mysis is fine. you really dont need to feed them anythign else. jstu anything raw, seafood, and meaty.
as far as growth, that will depend onf your tank. closed brains such as maaze brains do not grow too fast, but will grow faster if you attach them to some lr instead of just letting them sit.
as far a splacement, that eepends on your lighting.

well i dont think they're mazes. more like favites.

i've been making a mix of brine mysis and a small portion of blood worms, the lil green one loves it.

but i gottanother question.

the red favites was just all red when i got it. but now, day by day, the ridges are darkening in color, but the middles are turning blue. but, the thing wont eat.

i think its weird cause the green and silver one opened up while i was acclimating it, and as soon as the lights go out.

ima gonna take him out tonight, put him in a bowl and squirt him w/ squid juices mixed with the normal stuff.

my lights are 96w Coarllife PC, (10,000k DL + Ac.) tank is 18 gal. tall, should i keep them low??

they're attached to lil rock chunks, should i move them from the sand?

that lighting should be fine. with that, they can probably do anywhere, but IMO,higher is better. i know the red wellsiophyllas come form shallower waters than the green so they require more light, not sure if the same is true with a favites, but i do know that you arent going to burn him as long as he is acclimated to the light.
i wouldnt suggest taking him out. if he isnt opening in your tank, he probably isnt goign to after you stress him out by putting him in a bowl. it would especialy be pointless if no tenticles come out. try feeding yoru entire tank something like cyclopseeeze or squirting some right in front of it. usualy it will coem out from the scent.

just in general how often should i be feeding the brains and candy canes?
