Brazilian Hoplarchus psittacus....

Aye, been battling with the HITH since i got the little buggas. Started out with 15 of the little beauties, each and everyone of them had HITH. Gave 8 of them to one of my buddies...haha...and I've got the other 7. They are indeed awesome fish. Tons of personality and spunk, love them.

All I've been doing is four 45% waterchanges a week for the past five months, haha, seems to be helpin clear it all up. I'm gonna start treatin them with some special treatment and see if it helps to finally seal over the nasty blemishs. I can't complain too much, since i got them for really cheap because of their condition, and it really wasn't that hard to bring them back. Really hardy cichlids. Bullet proof almost!

They are amazing. I am glad to hear of your success so far. I hope it continues :) Good luck.

It is kinda sorta a miracle in a way. About a two years ago now I was able to get 4 of these beauties from Rapps. Grew them out to 9", then one night my heater broke and my tank got up to 95 degrees, killin all my fish. Rather not happy was I. This was about the time that they were also puttin the ban on importing any more wild caught Brazilian Hoplarchus psittacus, which is what I had. Somehow I was able to locate these 15 within 2.5 months after mine died..so i got really luck! Only down side was that they were sick...but as you can see, they are recoverin from that! Yay!
