The sox win the series.
Only took them 86 years and a full lunar eclipse. Try not to trade anyone named ruth for awhile, eh?

She got hit in the eye/face.... Guess the force of it caused more damage than expected.slipknottin said:..... (i still cant figure out how someone got killed by a pepperball...)

As a Boston native (Cambridge actually, but a stones throw away) I feel the need to explain that the riots of "fans" you are hearing about are not actually fans but college students who may or may not have ever even watched baseball game. Fenway Park is situated in the middle of several college campuses and a very popular student apartment area. Northeastern University, Boston University, Wentworth Institute of Technology, Simmons College, Emerson College, Massachusetts College of Art, Museum of Fine Arts School, Massahusetts College of Pharmacy, Berkley College of Music, and Harvard Medical School are all within walking distance of Fenway and those are just the schools I can think of off the top of my head. Those mobs are created by college students looking for an opportunity gather and do whatever. The fans are not to blame. The fans are the people orderly waiting in the cold, in the middle of the night, for hours just to get a glimpse of the players and cheer then as the get off the bus this morning.
Slipknottin, its my understanding that the pepper ball was something like a paint ball but fired at a higher velocity. Also, she caught it right in the eye at a relatively close range. Its sounds like all the things that could have gone wrong with the use of that weapon did in this instance.

there are TONS of fights in Fenway, I've been to a boat load of games there.
Those fans are just as rowdy as anywhere else. They have no problems throwing down over stupid things.
While obviously the area is crowded with bars and colleges, I DOUBT that most younger college kids are out in that area since the bars and clubs there are very strict with their carding. I know because I used to work at one and they are mostly all owned by the same company.
The only college kids that would be there would be those that are uber baseball fans, seniors in college that can get into those bars, and all the baseball fanatics from the Boston area that couldn't get in.
Dont put the blame on college kids alone

tomm10 said:Watch the footage. It was almost entirely college aged kids. They flooded into the area after the game walking from dorms and apartments. While there are plenty of bars in the neighborhood, there aren't enough to supply the thousands of people that fueled those mobs.
