Breeding Angelfish

Im trying on a new task and want to breed angelfish, i got all the advice about doing it and i kno they get aggressive when breeding, so is it not a good a idea to have a bottom feeder or two in that tank? Any suggestions would b great.

I'd suggest no bottom feeder just because of possible egg loss but you could have one and maybe move it to another tank when you notice mating aggression but it'd be rough to be switching them in and out. I'll let someone else chime in. I plan on breeding angels too and I hadn't thought of this til you made this topic so I'm interested in what others have to say
 
Yea alot of people say the same no bottom feeder, only because of possible egg loss nd aggression to kill off anythin else in the tank when mating nd breeding. But i also have alot of plants nd caves so im wondering if he would b ok. Everyone says they just do a good cleaning every other day to pick up whatever the angels didnt, nd i ws trying to avoid that lol.

Angels get very aggressive when breeding and eggs are a good meal. Why chance either one. Keep them in a tank alone while breeding them.
 
By breeding, do you mean let the angels raise their own? Or that you will take the eggs and rasise artificially? Maybe some corys or plecos if you have other shelter for them. Or you can dedicate a bare bottom tank for angels. Make sure you get some quality stock. Also get a group so you have better chances of a pair or pairs.

As far as maintenance goes they do poop a lot! Just know angels can be affected by bad water quality. It can have permanent damage to fins, especially the young. But these are extreme conditions.
 
Yea i plan on letting the angel's raise their fry. I have a semi-heavy planted 29gal in its 4th week of cycle, i planned on getting 4 angel's so at least i have a good chance of getting a pair, nd yes i heard they do need maintenance, ive raised angel's before, one i still have which is about 4 years old, ive just never bred them before. I plan on jus cleaning up the gravel after feeding nd so on. But jus wanted an opinion on if i can have any bottom guys in there. So guess not lol which is fine, i was just trying to find the easy way to do it lol, thanks again everyone.

I'm going to do the same thing. I got 3 blues that I'm trying to get a pair out of and I'm very excited to breed them. I'm curre toy breeding mollies and an egg layer but I want a pair of fish that will raise their fry. I think that's the coolest thing ever. Obviously I would need a grow out tank but I can live with that.

Just so you know it might take them a couple spawns to learn to do it right. Sometimes they eat the eggs the first couple times but don't let it worry you. Also keep an eye on fertilization, sometimes 2 females will pair up and go through the whole breeding process even with the second female following beyond trying to fertilize. You'll know if none of the eggs are fertilized though and then you can separate one of the female/female pair and let them try and pair up again

Yea i did kno this info, but thank you every tip helps, thats why i only want to pick up four of them nd hope for the best to get a pair out of them, but deff. keep in touch to let me kno how everythings goin in ur breeding tank nd if u pick up any tips along the way on ur own would be great if ur up for it.
