I was considering maybe trying to breed angelfish. I have a fry tank with mollies and guppys would the mollie and guppy fry eat the eggs?

Thanks for your help!!!

the angel might eat the guppies.

I don't understand your question all the way but if you mean your going to pull the eggs and place them in with guppy and molly fry then yes they will eat the eggs. I pull mine out and place them in a 2 1/2G tank with nothing but an airstone.

Cobra, what else do you do to the eggs? Do you do anything special with the water? What do you feed when they hatch? How long do you wait to put them in the large tank(if ever). This is very interesting to me as I have 5 juvie angels right now. I am hoping for a pair and if they spawn, I would love to have babies!

Hey Jodi,

That’s how i first started i bought 5 juvie's and with my luck i ended up with two pairs. When there tubes come down they will spawn within a day. After they spawn i give the male about an hr to go over them and fertilize them just to make sure (you really want to watch them during this time b/c they will sometimes eat the eggs that quick.) Then i pull the eggs and place them in a 2 ½ and place a air stone right under them so they are being fanned at all times. I use fresh tap water to put the eggs in and i also place 5 drops of Methylene blue and 2 drops of Acriflavine, which is a treatment for egg fungus. You can get both of these at pet smart or most LFS. After two days they will become wigglers and then on day 7 they should be all free swimming and that’s when I start to feed them baby brine shrimp. I will leave them in the 2 ½ for about 2 to 3 weeks then place them in a 10-gallon. Hope this helps if you need anything else just ask.

So, you put the airstone right under them...do they float? And do you have your 2 pairs of angels in separate tanks? I have yet to find anyone with more than one pair in a tank and I was wondering if it can be done. Thanks for the advice!

I have 4 pairs all together two of them are in a community 150G tank and the other two pairs are each in a 15 Gallon. I keep strips on slate in the tanks and they spawn on those and then i just pull the slate and use it to hold down the airstone in the 2 1/2. I will post a pic later if i think of it.
