Breeding bettas

Ahhhhh

So thats whats going on in my tank. :scratch: My new Royal Blue Male was "fighting" with one of the females.

He has his own house at the top in the floating plants and when she went in it appeared they were kicking the crap out of each other. He chases her all over the tank as well....but then she will turn on him and chase him over....she chased him into the "tree" in the middle of the tank. That stopped him for 5 minutes.

Are they planning on getting it on - or do they dislike each other and the fighting will get worse...?

Sorry for the hijack.

Regards
Claire

ukclaire, Watch them carefully. If it gets really bad seperate them. They might loose thier fins if it gets really violent, and eventually one will get killed.

on another note;
i don't like the idea of breeding bettas that you commonly find in pet stores. they are bad strains and mixed colors/types.
If you want to be serious about breeding, aquire bettas from breeders and at auctions, where you are more sure of getting a good strain. It matters if you want to aviod sterile and hybrid bettas.

yeah i am all set up now. I have got my fry tank cycling and i have had a breeding tank cycling for 3 weeks now so i bought my fish today. I got a crow tailed male and two females one red and one blue. They are in a 35 gallon tank seperated half way with a sheet of glass. I have got two amazon swords in both ends.
