Hi,
I am interested in breeding plecs and cats. I was wondering what would be the most interesting and the easiest types.. Apart from cories..
Regards,
Denis........
TTA I have a friend that can raise Celestial pearl danios by the dozen and he's a bristlenose killing machine . We never have figured out how that can be possible, but they aren't ALWAYS bunnies! For most people with a busy LFS near them, Ancistrus fry make great fish to breed for the experience of raising baby plecos, and then they can drastically subsidize your fishie purchases .
Hi Denis-
I posted this in my bristlenose thread but I don't know if you saw it:
nice pics of sturgeon/carp/pike in the gallery by the way!
I think the common bristlenose are the easiest of all catfish to breed, as they don't need a water change or anything to get them going, or specialised pH/hardness parameters- all they need is a cave for the male. The fry don't even need special food- thus far they've been much easier to raise than were the Brochis that spawned last year. Don't start with a blackwater species of Ancistrus though as they need really soft water and low pH, and possibly high temperatures. For this reason, go for the tank bred bristlenose- anywhere from £2-£4 for 1" fish, which sounds pretty steep when they breed so easily!
You could also check out the various links from Ancistrus sp.3 on Planet Catfish.

Could not agree more, once started breeding ,they are like a run away train down a mountain.
Great stuff guys i will give them a go.. yes i saw the thread but was looking if there were any others that would be as easy.. Well things are easy when u know how..lol
