So my 55 gallon tank is being upgraded to a 120 gallon long one.
What I have decided to do now with the 55 is to breed a pair of JDs.
No I could've taken the easy way out and bought the 2 JDs that have paired up at work. Instead I want to try something a little trickier. I have bought 3 female JDs and 6 Electric Blue JDs. These guys are all juvies and I am waiting for a male EB to pair with a regular female. Then the rest of them will go to friends of mine that have big enough tanks.
From this pairing I will get Blue Gene JDs that I plan to breed for awhile. I then hope to pair a good looking BG female up with a different unrelated EB male. Hopefully this will help widen the gene pool... I have noticed that EBJDs tend to be extremely inbred. Eventually I want to get some more 55 gallon tanks so I can have multiple unrelated pairs breeding and then I can breed their offspring. This way off in the future though.
Any thoughts, advice, ideas or opinions???
