So I just set up a 20gal brackish for my girlfriend for a green spotted puffer. I set up one of those small plastic 2 gallon tanks with a sponge filter that I've been running on another tank for a couple weeks. For lighting I'm simply using a desk lamp. I'm gonna get a heater for it when it starts cooling down outside again. I picked up about 10 feeder snails at the LFS today and threw them in there with an algae wafer which they seem to love.

From what I've read snails breed like mad so long as there's food. So I'm not really anticipating problems but is there anything else I should know or add to the setup?

Nope, they are really easy to breed IME. Never had problems not having enough snails.

Just keep 5 of them in a separate in tank container with a rock/PVC pipe, and they will lay eggs. Then remove the snails and get ready to see a ton of snails.

Sounds good, thanks guys. I'm planning on having to do some population control at some point. Will cichlids such as demasoni and electric yellow eat small feeder snails?

I think so if you crush them, but without crushing them, IDK on that part?

If you want to cut down the population a bit, just get some yoyo loaches to control the population.
