Hi I'm new to breeding Kribs. I had a few questions. I have a male and a female I have a heavily planted 10g set up for them to breed in with caves and a overturned flowerpot. any othe information will be greatly appreciated

Hi Rylan
I'm not an expert - only picked up my Kribs a month ago - but they've already spawned. Basically give them their private cave (with only one entry/exit that's about an inch) and they'll do the rest. It might take a while for them to get used to each other - but pretty soon you'll probably see your female 'shaking her stuff' at the male and he'll follow her everywhere. She'll disappear into the cave for a while - and suddenly neither of them will be quite as friendly with tankmates (they'll harry them away from the cave). 2-3 days later you should see your proud parents taking the fish for 'walkies' (or swimmies) around the tank...

LOL, yea, Kribs = Rabbits! :p:

I got a pair when my tank was barely 2 months old, and they spawned within about 2 weeks of being put in there.... But at the time I had a big meanie tiger botia thing in there and he invaded their cave and ate whatever might have been in there....

I don't want to breed Kribs, I have a pair because I think they're beautiful, but those two really need to get a room... They're ALWAYS wiggling around each other and shacking up in a fake hollow tree stump! I don't know how often they actually spawn, but they're sure practicing a lot!

I haven't done anythign special for my kribs, just put them in the tank with some caves etc. (they are in a community set up). They will get VERY colorful, and then disapear for about a week or two, and then the male will reappear, the mom will come out a few days later parading her fry around. I dont really want more kribs, so I leave the fry in there, and after the parents guard them for a week or so, the fry all dissapear.

yeah they are definitely like rabbits. i've had guppies and platies before that never produced this many fry or at least the fry didnt live as long as the Krib fry.
my Kribs at work had fry last week. there's about 20 or so fry. the tank was only about a month old when the Kribs spawned.
and they're good parents. very protective of the young. the mom will take them around the tank and find them food to eat.
